As a new day begins tomorrow, our Indian brothers and sisters will welcome the arrival of the auspicious month of ‘Thai’ in the Indian calendar. This occasion will be marked with the ‘Ponggal’ festival which celebrates the fresh harvest and the bounty of nature.
It is during this time of the year that the phrase ‘Thai Pirandhal Vazhi Pirakkum’ is often repeated. Bearing a meaning that the commencement of the Thai month paves the way for new opportunities, the predominant sense in the Indian community is of marking a new beginning in their lives.
As you chart your destination towards success and prosperity based on this hope, I wish to reiterate that the Government remains steadfast in continuing its efforts to transform the Indian community and will multiply our efforts to bring changes to a larger section of the community. I am confident that we will be able to achieve remarkable outcomes and brighten the life of those who are in need with the continued ‘nambikei’ between the Government and the community.
I take this opportunity to extend my ‘Ponggal Vaalthukal’ and best wishes to all Malaysian Indians and wish you every happiness and prosperity.
