Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation, or APEC, is the premier forum for facilitating economic growth, cooperation, trade and investment in the Asia-Pacific region. Since its inception, APEC has worked to reduce tariffs and other trade barriers across the Asia-Pacific region, creating efficient domestic economies and dramatically increasing exports.

In 2011, I delivered a speech at the East-West Center in Hawaii, calling for a global “movement of the moderates…to drown out the extremists.” Recently, in 2012, I pushed for free trade, warning APEC member economies that they must act to ensure that the world does not plunge into a global economic meltdown.
