KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 20 (Bernama) — The 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) Foundation is disbursing financial aid to some 900 recipients under its “Ihsan Ramadan and Aidilfitri” programme.
The target groups comprise disabled children, single mothers and senior citizens at 16 locations in Penang, Perak, Pahang, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan and Kuala Lumpur.
Each will receive between RM100 and RM300.
“The objective of the programme is to help ease their financial burden as people carry out the Ramadan fasting obligation and prepare for the Aidilfitri celebration,” 1MDB Foundation said in a statement today.
The body said it was one of its pro-active measures to assist Malaysians ahead of the festive season.
The initiative, which began in Hulu Selangor on Aug 17, is being spearheaded by the foundation’s corporate social responsibility director, Dr Shamsul Anwar Sulaiman.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak is scheduled to take part in the programme in Hulu Langat, Selangor, tomorrow.
