2,000 Visitors Expected To Attend 1Malaysia Unity Programme

GEORGE TOWN, March 27 (Bernama) — About 2,000 visitors are expected to attend the Timur Laut 1Malaysia Unity Programme at Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Tamil (SJKT) Jalan Sungai, Sungai Pinang here on April 28.

Timur Laut chief information officer Fun Pon Phrat said the programme organised by the Timur Laut Information Office, in collaboration with 1Malaysia Community, was aimed at strengthening relations among leaders, 1Malaysia community members and society in general.

“It is also to continue supporting the efforts of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak to strengthen unity, peace and patriotism in the country.

“Besides that, it is also aimed at producing a tolerant 1Malaysia community, united and responsible in making the 1Malaysia concept a success, in line with the Blue Wave strategy,” he told reporters here today.

He said 18 booths would be opened during the programme from 8am to 11pm, involving various government and private agencies, whereby the public could purchase goods at bargain prices at the 1Malaysia People’s Shop operated by Mydin.
